Is there anything better than a perfectly cooked ribeye? The best steak can be cooked at home for more than half the price of your local steakhouse. Here’s what we have found that works…

What you will need:

  • Cast Iron Skillet - works fine on electric or gas stoves

(For the best and healthiest steak, all of the following should be organic grassfed/finished, if possible)

  • Ribeye (or your favorite cut)

  • Tallow Butter (this is the key to a great steak!)

Preheat the skillet on medium high. Add about a tablespoon of tallow. When you see the tallow shimmering a bit, it is ready to add the steak. If you like for the outside to be crispy make sure the tallow has had time to heat up well enough. You should hear the steak sizzle when you place it in the tallow. Allow one side to cook approximately 4 to 6 minutes (or until the look you desire) and then flip to do the other side. Once both sides have cooked, turn off the heat and add butter. The amount of butter I add is about 1/4 of a Kerrygold bar or 2oz per steak. Yes, I love butter! Allow it to melt turning the steak over and over in the butter. Put the steak on your plate and then pour the butter on top. Let it rest for a few minutes before eating.

The more times you do this you start figuring out what works the best with your stove, your skillet and the thickness of the steak.
