Phillip is a Stafford Crested Canary. He is about a year old. Breeders will color the birds by putting dyes in their food. Phillips feathers are slowly turning from the orange to his natural color. Every breed of canary has their own distinct song because that is what they use to attract a mate. Phillip sings because he is looking for his lady bird. Once they find a mate, they stop singing. Canaries normally live 8 to 15 years.
